TURKMENISTAN: National railway Demirýollary’s Ashgabat depot has taken delivery of one TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotive and one 2TE25KM freight diesel locomotive supplied by Transmashholding.
The orders placed in October and November 2020 were Russian company’s first from Turkmenistan, which has mostly ordered Chinese and Kazkah-built locomotives since independence.
The TEP70BS passenger locomotives produced at TMH’s Kolomna plant are already used in Russia, Latvia, Belarus Uzbekistan. The latest versions are rated at 2 942 kW per section, and are suitable for multiple-operation as well as use with modern coaches including double-deckers.
The 2TE25KM produced by TMH Bryansk is a twin-section diesel-electric locomotive for hauling main line freight trains of up to 6 400 tonnes in various climates. The type is widely used in Russia and Mongolia, as well as at industrial sites in Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
