SOUTH KOREA: Korail has awarded Hyundai Rotem a 111·6bn won contract to supply 128 electric multiple-unit cars, the manufacturer announced on October 18.
Delivey of the 110 km/h trainsets is due to be completed by the end of 2019.
Most of the trainsets are to be deployed on commuter lines in Seoul. Four 10-car trainsets are to be used on the Gyeongin Line, seven 10-car sets will go to the Gwacheon-Ansan Line and three six-car sets are to be put into service on a 20·3 km extension of the Gyeongwon Line.
