EUROPE: Leasing company Railpool has awarded Alstom a framework contract for the supply of up to 42 Traxx AC3 and Traxx DC3 locomotives with a firm order for 27, the two companies announced on February 21.
The locomotives are intended for use in Poland, Italy, Norway and Sweden. They will be manufactured at Alstom’s Kassel plant in Germany and at its Vado Ligure site in Italy. Deliveries are expected to start from next year.
‘We are pleased to swiftly meet the increasing demand for rolling-stock in Sweden and Norway, providing more of our reliable fleet and additionally feeding the region with up to 20 new-built Traxx AC3 Last Mile locomotives’, said Torsten Lehnert, CEO of Railpool. ‘The successful expansion of our footprint by the provision of modern e-locomotives but also through our local engagement in Scandinavia, Italy and Poland makes us proud’, he added.
Railpool says that the order means it will become the largest lessor of the Traxx DC3 Last Mile locomotives in Italy.
