CZECH REPUBLIC: RegioJet has bought 14 DWA-built Type 751.1-4 DBpz(a) double-deck coaches from Deutsche Bahn. These are to be refurbished for use on service R23 between Ústí nad Labem and Kolín which RegioJet operates under contract.
RegioJet has operated the route since December 2021 using Škoda-built ex-FNM Class 162.1 3 kV DC electric locomotives and single-deck coaches acquired second-hand from DB. However, its PSO contract with the Ministry of Transport requires the use of stock with low-floor entrances from December 2024 at the latest.
The recently-acquired air-conditioned cars come from a batch of 89 built for DB in 1994–97.
RJ previously bought 10 double-deck coaches from DB in 2019 for use on Bratislava – Dunajská Streda services in Slovakia, but these have high-floor entrances.
