SPAIN: Stadler Valencia has rolled out the first of 22 diesel-electric locomotives for inspection, rescue and snow-clearing operations ordered by ADIF AV.
The standard gauge, twin-cab, four-axle locomotive is based on Stadler’s EuroLight design and is equipped with ETCS and ASFA signalling systems. It has a maximum speed of 160 km/h, a power rating of 2·8 MW and an operating temperature range of -25°C to +45°C. The loco is fitted with GSM-R and train-ground communications systems, as well as GPS location detection.
ADIF AV awarded a contract in 2019 for the supply and maintenance of 22 locomotives to a consortium comprising Stadler and Erion Mantenimiento Ferroviario, which is a RENFE-Stadler joint venture and will maintain the fleet for eight years. The contract is worth €115m.
