SUDAN: The first SDD1 mainline diesel locomotive for Sudan Railways Corp has been rolled out.
The national operator awarded Chinese manufacturer CRRC Ziyang a 450m yuan contract for 27 locomotives on September 6 2020.
The 1 067 mm gauge six-axle locomotives are suitable for both passenger and freight traffic, and are designed to withstand high temperatures and sandstorms.
In January 2018 CRRC Ziyang supplied Sudan Railways Corp with two 120 km/h DMUs each comprising two power cars and six trailers.
