UK: Network Rail and Whoosh have launched a bespoke journey planning platform for the Commonwealth Games, enabing spectators to scan QR codes on posters at Birmingham New Street station to access tailored passenger information.
This enables users to check the schedule for the games, find listed events, sports, and venues, and plan how to get there.
Anyone with games tickets can use trains, trams and buses in the West Midlands free of charge to get to and from the event venues.
‘We expect a million more passengers at Birmingham’s three main stations during the event weeks, and this important travel technology will help to deal efficiently with this increased demand’, explained Anand Patel, Head of Technology & Innovation at Network Rail. ‘These QR codes show the dual benefits of travel technology and collaboration with industry experts such as Whoosh.’
