UK: British Steel is to build a ‘multi-million-pound’ storage area for 108 m long rails and a dedicated facility for servicing Network Rail’s rail delivery trains at its Scunthorpe steelworks.
This follows the award of a two-year extension to its contract to supply Network Rail with rail. This will include premium HP335 rail designed to cut life cycle costs through reduced grinding frequencies, and Zinoco corrosion-protected rail designed to extend rail life in aggressive environments such as level crossings, tunnels and coastal areas.
