UK: Caledonian Sleeper has confirmed that it will be restoring its full timetable from April 29, after a lengthy period of running a single daily train between London and Inverness via Edinburgh.

Both the Lowlander and Highlander services will re-start, albeit with slightly shorter formations for a few weeks.

The Club Car will not be available at first, although the intention is to make all facilities available as soon as practical. The reclining seat vehicles will also be available once more, but with reduced capacity to allow social distancing.

Services between Edinburgh and Fort William will initially not convey the additional seating cars which are added/detached at Edinburgh Waverley. Caledonian Sleeper said reintroduction would depend on changes to social distancing restrictions.

These services normally form part of the scheduled passenger service on the route between Glasgow and Fort William, and their continued suspension, along with the reduced timetable operated by ScotRail, means there are no connecting services to link into the twice-daily Jacobite steam service which resumed on April 26. These depart from Fort William towards Mallaig at 10.19 and 12.45 and arrive back at 16.03 and 18.53; currently the first passenger service to Fort William from Glasgow Central arrives at 13.38 and the last return train leaves Fort William at 11.40.
