UK: Transport for Wales has signed an agreement to purchase Colas Rail’s Pullman Rail business, which provides rolling stock engineering services at Canton in Cardiff.
TfW said it had reviewed its depot and stabling facilities, and concluded that the acquisition of Pullman would provide extra capacity to support the introduction of new rolling stock as well as building on an already-close working partnership between the companies.
Pullman will continue to operate as a stand-alone business, with ‘business as usual’ under the Pullman brand.
‘Pullman has been operating in the UK for more than 25 years, delivering high quality products and services’, said TfW CEO James Price on August 10. ‘This technical expertise, quality workmanship and innovation are integral to the UK rail industry, ensuring legacy fleets can be maintained.
‘TfW is proud to be aligned with this strong heritage and of the opportunities this partnership will present for the growth of both organisations in the future, in improving rail services for our passengers and securing jobs locally in Wales.’
