UK: Morrison Construction has been appointed to undertake a £8m modernisation of Aberdeen station.
The year-long project will include relocating the ticket office and first class lounge to provide an improved environment and create additional ‘high value’ retail areas, enhancement of existing retail facilities, improvements to the taxi rank, enhanced cycle parking and an improved station entrance with better connectivity with the city. Staff facilities will also be modernised and expanded, and there will be works to enhance the station building in partnership with the Railway Heritage Trust.
An 12 month project to refurbish the overall roof of the Category A listed station and replace 10 000 glass panes with modular polycarbonate panels was completed by Story Contracting, Twinfix and Macleod Roofing in 2018-19.
