UK: An £82m ‘transformation’ of Coventry station has been officially completed by Network Rail, Avanti West Coast and other operators, Transport for West Midlands, Friargate JV Project Ltd, Coventry City Council and other local regeneration stakeholders.

The project includes an extended station building, a footbridge connecting the station to a 629-space multi-storey car park, new entrances on Warwick Road providing access to a cycle hub, and a tunnel linking the station to a new bus interchange. The concourse has five retail units, waiting rooms, toilets and lifts. Public realm works outside the station include a pedestrian boulevard and a visitor information pod.

The Coventry Station Masterplan project received £39·4m from the West Midlands Combined Authority Devolution Deal and £27·5m from the government’s Local Growth Fund through Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, as well as funding from the city council.
