UK: Project promoter East West Railway Co has appointed an Arup-led consortium to support early works for the Bedford – Cambridge section of the East West Rail corridor between Oxford and Cambridge.
Arup will work with Environmental Resources Management, Copper and Ardent to provide support for alignment design and assessment work, the public consultation process and studies to inform strategic decision making.
EWR Co said this was the first major support contract it had awarded. ‘I am delighted that we’ve made this appointment now, because it will enable us to keep working at pace as soon as the preferred route has been selected later this year’, said CEO Simon Blanchflower on October 14. ‘Our project has a unique business model and we wanted to appoint an engineering partner as committed as we are to test out new ways of working on the UK’s most exciting new railway project.’
