UK: Beth West has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Oxford – Cambridge railway corridor project promoter East West Railway Co with effect from April 1, succeeding Simon Blanchflower who is retiring.
West joins after a period of consulting, having previously been Regional South Managing Director at Balfour Beatty. She also held positions including Commercial Director for HS2 Ltd, and Head of Development for Landsec, as well as spending nine years at Transport for London.
She is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply, and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
‘Beth is an accomplished leader, combining strong industry experience with an ability to inspire and drive positive change’, said EWR Co Chair Neil Sachdev on March 30. ‘EWR Co has always set out to do things differently, moving away from the traditional rail model and Beth is a natural fit to continue this new approach.’
West said ‘I intend to see EWR at the forefront of innovation, exploring new and better ways to plan, build and run rail’.
