UK: Siemens Mobility has awarded DB ESG a contract to undertake design work for the first-in-class installation of Trainguard 200 ETCS equipment on Class 47, 57, 59 and 60 freight locomotives.
This forms part of Network Rail’s ETCS Freight Train Fitment Programme, and follow successful progress with similar work on the Class 66 fleet under a June 2018 contract.
‘We have enjoyed the challenges of the Class 66 project and working closely with all the operators and associated stakeholders’, said DB ESG Managing Director Nick Goodhand on May 27. ‘We understand the cab space constraints, the importance of human factors and the complexity of freight vehicles, including the number of class variants within each fleet type.’
