UK: GB Railfreight has begun providing all internal rail operations for steel reinforcement and long product manufacturer Celsa Steel UK.
This includes the transport of inbound scrap metal for steel production in Cardiff, hot billets for processing into finished goods, and outbound movements of finished products.
The 12-year contract builds on a 10-year relationship between the companies, and includes the supply of remotely-controlled shunting locomotives and a dedicated team of shunting crews, as well as assistance with managing internal track and wagon maintenance assessments.
The companies said they would also explore options for the development of more environmentally friendly locomotives.
