UK: Siemens Mobility has opened a £7m components facility at its Goole site for the maintenance of train and tram parts including gearboxes, traction motors, fans and HVAC.
The 4 000 m2 components facility was built by local contractor GMI to replace a smaller site in Leeds.
It initially employs 40 full-time staff, including five apprentices. The project is expected to lead to the creation of an additional 30 skilled jobs with the transfer of work that is currently undertaken in mainland Europe.
The components facility was officially inaugurated by Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities Michael Gove on April 20.
