UK: With its passenger numbers down by more than 90%, Greater Anglia temporarily closed 34 ticket offices with effect from April 19 and reduced opening hours at a further seven.
Offices consistently selling less than 20 tickets/day have been closed, except for those near big hospitals. Tickets can still be bought at machines, online or by using Greater Anglia’s app.
‘These changes are only temporary’, explained Commercial & Customer Service Director Martin Moran. ‘Once we are out of lockdown and people start travelling again, then we will reopen them.’
He said the operator was ‘following all government guidelines on social distancing and we’ve stepped up our cleaning of trains and stations, including high-touch areas such as ticket machine buttons and door handles.’
