UK: Network Rail has awarded Harsco Corp’s Rail division a US$25m contract to operate and maintain its fleet of eight mobile maintenance trains for three years from April, with an optional two-year extension.
The MMTs were built by Robel and entered service from 2015.
Designed to protect maintenance staff working on the track, each self-propelled trainset includes a protected working area with cranes for moving heavy equipment and hydraulic and pneumatic power points, plus a workshop area and a staff welfare area with kitchen and toilet.
