UK: Germany’s Hima Group has acquired railway and industrial automation and control technology company Sella Controls with effect from February 1.
Previous owners John Blackwell and Eddy Turnock will continue to lead Sella Controls, with Chris Parr, who previously led the Process division, joining the board as CTO. The Sella brand name, 118 employees and three locations will be retained, and additional recruitment is planned.
‘Hima will benefit from the long-term experience of Sella Controls in the development of solutions for the rail industry and we at Sella Controls will be able to utilise Hima’s global sales and service to boost our international business’, said Turnock.
’The investment in Sella Controls is a clear signal that growth by acquisition is an important element of the Hima growth strategy’, said Dr Michael Löbig, CFO of the family-owned safety-related automation company which has 800 employees at 50 locations worldwide.
Sella Controls was established in 1974 and appointed as agent for Hima in 1983. It became Hima-Sella Ltd in 1994, and in June 2017 changed its name back to Sella Controls, while maintaining its long standing relationship with Hima.
