UK: High speed line concessionaire HS1 Ltd is using OpenSpace Group’s counting and flow monitoring technology to improve passenger flows at its London St Pancras, Stratford, Ebbsfleet and Ashford stations.

The technology will provide a real-time visual representation of the location of all people in the stations at any given time, enabling staff to deal with bottlenecks or overcrowding.

It can also be used to simulate ‘what-if’ scenarios to prepare for maintenance works or particularly busy times such as special events.

People are represented by a generic figure, and images of faces are not captured.

OpenSpace Group CEO Nicolas LeGlatin said ‘we are excited to be co-operating with such innovative visionary customers in these important steps along their ambitious digitisation roadmap. Whilst Covid-19 isn’t the only driver for this project, it has brought operators a deep sense and recognition of the importance of the movement of people which will accelerate the adoption and enhancement of solutions like OpenSpace.’
