UK: Northern has completed a refurbishment of its Hull Botanic Gardens Traincare Centre to increase maintenance and servicing capacity.
The operator’s Class 170 DMUs will be based at the depot, with four teams totalling 30 people responsible for routine servicing, maintenance, upkeep and repair as well as undertaking work for Hull Trains and TransPennine Express.
New equipment which has been installed includes a crane, train roof access platforms and jacks as well as an additional fuelling road. The depot roof has also been replaced.
New asset management systems are to be introduced during 2023 to create a Centre of Excellence Control Room for the Class 170 fleet.
