UK: David Gibson has been appointed as Managing Director of open access operator Hull Trains with effect from October 1.
Gibson left the Royal Air Force in 2003, joining Hull City Council as Assistant Chief Executive before moving to Capita’s Consulting & Transformation division as a Director in the Programme & Project Management Practice. His most recent roles include Managing Director of DB Regio Tyne & Wear, and Service Delivery Director for Caledonian MacBrayne Ferries.
Andy Mellors, Managing Director, Non-Franchised Businesses, at Hull Trains’ parent company FirstGroup, said Gibson ‘lives in the East Riding of Yorkshire, is passionate about the region, and is excited by the opportunity to lead Hull Trains to regain its position as leading operator for rail passenger satisfaction’.
Mellors has been acting as interim head of Hull Trains since Louise Cheeseman stepped down as Managing Director on July 12 to join Transport for London as Director of Buses.
