UK: The appointment of John Larkinson as Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Rail & Road has been confirmed.
Larkinson had been interim CEO since October 2018, and was appointed on a permanent basis following a public competition and the required approval from the Prime Minister.
An economist by background, he has held a range of transport-related posts in consultancy and in government, including Director of Network Regulation & Affordability at the Strategic Rail Authority.
He joined ORR in 2005 and has been Director of Railway Planning & Performance, Programme Director 2013 Periodic Review and Director, Economic Regulation & Consumers. He was appointed to the board in March 2017.
‘The board is very pleased to have been able to appoint John following a well-contested competition’, said ORR Chair Declan Collier on February 23. ‘I also want to thank John for the excellent work he has done as interim CEO through an extended and really challenging period. We welcome the opportunity to now continue to draw on his experience and expertise as he takes on the permanent role.’
