UK: Knorr-Bremse has bought Unipart Rail’s Wiltshire-based door, pneumatics, brake actuation and HVAC business Westcode UK, saying the acquisition will expand its RailServices aftermarket activities as a one-stop-shop for the train subsystem life cycle.
‘RailServices is — alongside the provision of new equipment for trains — another major component of our business strategy and a long-term revenue generator that’s showing steady growth’, said Mario Beinert, Knorr-Bremse Rail Vehicle Systems management board member responsible for the UK, when the ‘mid-single-digit million-euro range’ deal was announced on March 1.
‘We’re constantly seeking to expand the range of services we offer our customers so we can cover the entire train life cycle. Our acquisition of Westcode offers us great opportunities to expand our business and strengthen our local presence.’
Unipart Rail Managing Director Neil McNicholas said ‘Westcode UK has provided customers with fantastic service in the four years it has been in the Unipart Group, and this sale to Knorr-Bremse will continue to strengthen its range of products and services’.
