UK: Hitachi Rail has awarded depot maintenance specialist MTMS a three-year contract to provide ‘comprehensive and round-the-clock’ maintenance equipment support at its six facilities maintaining Class 80x trainsets for GWR and LNER.
MTMS will support infrastructure including train washing facilities, servicing spines and fuel arms, with 24/7 call out support for service-critical equipment.
The company said it maintains and services equipment at more than one third of railway depots across the UK, with customers including South Western Railway, Govia Thameslink Railway, Arriva and Siemens.
‘The new contract is a big vote of confidence in our people and in the MTMS way of doing things’, said Chairman Malcolm Prentice. ‘It shows that we’re now a market leader in providing the kind of depot services that are vital to train fleet owners and operators in ensuring the reliability and attractiveness of services to bring back passengers as the pandemic recedes.’
