UK: Rob Mullen has been appointed as the next Managing Director of Trenitalia’s Essex commuter train operator c2c, with effect from mid-May. He will succeed Ben Ackroyd, who is joining leasing company Porterbrook as its first Chief Operating Officer.
Mullen joins c2c from Govia Thameslink Railway, where he has been Train Services Director for Thameslink & Great Northern since 2019. He started his railway career working in consultancy, predominantly in performance modelling and timetable compilation, before joining c2c in 2007 as Route Performance Manager and later Driver Manager. He spent eight years at GWR, rising to become Operations Director in 2016.
He was also one of the founders of the Young Rail Professionals networking association.
‘Rob brings with him a wealth of experience in the rail industry and I have no doubt he will help us to maintain our high standards and focus on customer service’, said Ernesto Sicilia, Chairman & Managing Director of Trenitalia UK Ltd, on February 28. ‘I know that with his experience and dedication he will be a great leader.’
