UK: Network Rail has awarded Cordel Group a £3·2m contract to supply the Railway Gauging Data Solution which will replace the current National Gauging Database.
Cordel will provide a software-as-a- service platform for the storage and processing of gauge and clearance information for the entire network, including more than 30 000 km of track; 2 500 stations; 30 000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts; thousands of signals; and level crossings.
Cordel said the 6½ year deal, extendable to 8½ years, is its longest contract to date, and will be the first full-scale deployment of its platform in the northern hemisphere. It follows previous engagement with Network Rail, and a partnership with UK-based gauging and clearances specialist D/Gauge which will provide complementary software and consultancy.
‘We expect to provide additional services over the life of the contract, as we release new data collection and AI-powered analytic products’, said Cordell CEO Nick Smith on December 22.
