UK: Network Rail is considering appointing a system integrator which would work with its operational teams to develop an improved whole system approach to predicting, preventing and managing external disruption such as trespass, vandalism, suicide and staff assaults.
This would include developing a target operating model and a blueprint for a pilot scheme on the North & East Route which could be scaled across the north of England.
Requirements for automating disruption prediction, prevention and response would also be assessed, along with the identification of ‘quick wins’ which might be achievable with existing technologies such as fixed and forward-facing CCTV, geofencing, control centre applications and telemetry.
