The infrastructure manager said the move reflected its commitment to the Rail Sector Deal, under which the government and rail industry aim to work together to ensure the country can capitalise on emerging global opportunities.

‘A key ask from industry was to examine how public sector organisations could better support UK rail exports, with an area for further consideration being how Network Rail’s domestic policy impacts on exporting’, explained Unipart Rail Managing Director Noel Travers, who is Rail Sector Deal Exports & Inward Investment Industry Champion, on May 7.

‘It’s particularly pleasing therefore that Network Rail is now helping exporters demonstrate that their equipment is in use within the UK’s railways, with references.’

Clive Berrington, Commercial & Procurement Director at Network Rail, said winning overseas contracts could help suppliers develop their businesses, boost the economy and help accelerate innovation and drive competitiveness.
