UK: Andrew Hall has been named the next Chief Inspector of Rail Accidents, and will succeed Simon French when he retires on March 31 after nearly 18 years at the Rail Accident Investigation Branch.
A chartered electrical engineer, Hall has worked at RAIB since 2004 and has been the Deputy Chief Inspector since 2015.
‘It is a great privilege to be selected to lead the branch’, he said on January 31. ‘Simon will be a hard act to follow, but whoever the Chief Inspector is, RAIB’s core role, to investigate accidents in order to improve safety and inform, remains.’
