UK: One Big Circle has been awarded a contract to detect conductor rail and electrical cables faults on third rail electrified routes by combining its Automated Intelligent Video Review on-train technology with thermal cameras to detect hot spots of more than 80ºC.
The cameras will be mounted on fleets operated by Govia Thameslink Railway.
The six-month contract awarded by Network Rail follows intensive collaboration between One Big Circle, NR’s Signalling Innovation Group and the Intelligent Infrastructure Group, which carried out a proof of concept trial last summer.
‘Our technology provides engineers accurate data to instantly and remotely monitor situations online, ensuring they deploy the most appropriate team to deal with a fault quickly and effectively before it becomes a full failure’, said One Big Circle’s Emily Kent. ’This next stage of the project is really exciting and the collaborative relationship with Network Rail allows us to work right alongside those who will benefit directly from the technology and ensure it’s truly fit for purpose.’
