UK: The University of Derby, Rail Supply Group, Rail Forum Midlands and Tarmac have invited SMEs to put forward ideas for decarbonising rail freight operations.
This forms the second ‘challenge’ for SMEs under the government’s Rail Sector Deal.
The topics are:
- data management and telematics (with interest from Tarmac, DB Cargo, Ermewa, Freightliner and GBRf);
- locomotives and wagons (with interest from Ermewa, DB Cargo, Freightliner, GBRf and VTG);
- driver management and path improvements (with interest from DB Cargo, Freightliner, GBRf and Network Rail);
- terminal management and improvements (with interest from VTG, Ermewa, Freightliner, GBRF, Network Rail and Tarmac).
An online launch event at 15.00 on October 21 will provide further details and the process and timeframes for SMEs to respond.
