UK: Railcard discounts can now be obtained for pay-as-you-go travel when using Govia Thameslink Railway’s Key smart cards.
Key smart card holders enter their Railcard details onto their online keyGo account. Any journeys made are then automatically assessed at the end of each day, and if they meet the Railcard conditions the fare will be automatically discounted.
‘Coupling keyGo with discount Railcards is a game-changer, with so many more people now able to take advantage of tap-in, tap-out travel’, said Tom Moran, GTR’s Managing Director for Thameslink & Great Northern, on September 2. ‘It’s something our passengers have been asking for, especially since the 26-30 Railcard became available, and will save people time queuing for tickets, also aiding social distancing.’
The Railcards accepted are the 16-17 Saver, 16-25, 26-30, Senior, HM Forces, Annual Gold Card, Disabled Person’s (Adult and Child), Network and Job Centre Plus Travel discount card.
Group Railcards cannot be added, while keyGo cannot be used on TfL services or those run by another train operator.
