UK: ScotRail is to offer free refunds on unused tickets bought on or before December 20, following the Scottish Government’s announcement of more travel restrictions over the Christmas and New Year period.
In order to claim the fee-free refund, customers must keep hold of their tickets and submit them within 28 days of the expiry date.
‘We know people have bought tickets in good faith based on the travel restrictions that were in place’, said ScotRail Commercial Director Lesley Kane on December 21. ‘Now those have changed, we are making it as easy as possible to get refunds.’
ScotRail added that its refund policies are reviewed regularly, noting that customers would be given at least two weeks’ notice of any future changes to the new policy.
The ScotRail announcement followed a Department for Transport announcement that free refunds would be available for tickets purchased in advance for travel in England over the Christmas period.
