UK: SLC Group has established SLC Operations Ltd to provide train and station operating services as well as specialist safety-critical training.
This builds on SLC Rail’s work over the past 10 years supporting local authorities in the development and delivery of infrastructure projects including new and refurbished stations, route enhancements and freight investments.
SLC Operations is headed by Managing Director Cath Bellamy, who has joined from steam charter company Vintage Trains. Her previous roles have included managing director of Chiltern Railways and Hull Trains, and leading franchise negotiations at large commercial projects for the Department for Transport.
‘The team at SLC have successfully established themselves as specialists in making local, major transport projects happen for local authorities’, said Bellamy. ‘At present they are building a number of brand-new stations and are working on multiple local authority sponsored rail initiatives. SLC Operations will widen our capability, allow us to build a capability to run trains and operate stations as well as help to open up avenues for careers in rail, helping to tackle specialist skill shortages across the industry.’
