UK: Network Rail has signed an agreement for EDF Renewables UK to make 49·9 MW of solar energy capacity available to power offices, depots and stations, meeting around 15% of the infrastructure manager’s annual non-traction energy requirements.
The power will be generated at a solar farm to be built at Bloy’s Grove south of Norwich, which received planning consent in June.
The agreement announced on August 8 builds on Network Rail’s existing traction supply partnership with EDF Group, and forms part of a commitment to sourcing 100% of non-traction energy from renewable sources by 2030.
