More than 250 Axon Body 2 body-worn cameras are to be used by Transport for Wales conductors and station staff based at 15 locations including Cardiff, Chester, Swansea and Pontypridd. This follows a successful trial last year, with staff selecting from four models of camera. ‘Body cameras are proven to be incredibly effective in lowering crime rates both because they are a deterrent and because the evidence they help us gather is so good that it is often key in helping the police secure successful convictions’, said TfW Continuous Improvement Manager Chris Watkins.
Clockmaker Smith of Derby has supplied an electric mechanism to repair an ornate 161-year-old clock at Great Malvern station, which had been stopped at 02.12 for more than 36 months. The £8 000 project was funded by Network Rail and the Railway Heritage Trust.
