Amey has awarded Sella Controls a contract to supply a control system for the Taffs Well depot where Transport for Wales’ Stadler Citylink fleet will be maintained. Based on the Tracklink platform, this will feature a fully-redundant safety architecture consisting of a central interlocking connected to five distributed location cases, and integrated with Frauscher axle counters.
Leasing company Porterbrook has awarded AB Hoses & Fittings a contract to supply its Dual Variable Rate Sanders for Class 323 EMUs in a project funded by Network Rail. Each unit will be fitted with multiple sanders able to provide sand in variable quantities and at higher rates the current single sander. The full fleet fitment is due to be completed by 2023, when all Class 323s will be operated by Northern.

CWE Ltd is developing a centre of excellence for rail which will provide rolling stock component overhaul services at its Crowle site. It has set up a buffer facility, and is to transfer coupler refurbishment activities from Worksop. ‘The creation of a new centre of excellence for rail at our Crowle site is a reflection of the significant growth of both our customer base and engineering capabilities in the rail sector over the past few years’, said Managing Director Nick Andrew.

West Midlands Trains has appointed Charlotte Ritchie as Head of External Communications & Engagement, replacing Francis Thomas who is retiring after nine years with WMT and its predecessor London Midland. Ritchie joins from National Express, where she has been head of public affairs since 2015.
Simon Kilonback is to step down as Transport for London’s Chief Finance Officer in April to become CFO at broadband company G.Network the following month. He joined TfL as Group Treasurer in 2009, later becoming Director of Corporate Finance and then CFO in 2017. Before TfL, he worked at Lloyds Banking Group, HBOS, WH Smith and Sony. ‘He leaves TfL a more efficient and effective organisation than ever before and has put in the most remarkable of shifts to stabilise TfL through the ravages of the pandemic and to set us on a path to future financial sustainability’, said Transport Commissioner Andy Byford.
