Subject to final approvals, the Elizabeth Line station at Bond Street will open for revenue service on October 24, Transport for London announced on September 28.
RAIB has made five recommendations directed to Network Rail its report into a wrong side signalling failure and derailment at Dalwhinnie on April 10 2021. These cover the definition of the tasks and responsibilities of signalling maintenance teams carrying out pre-planned like-for-like replacement work, assuring the independence of testing and installation roles; providing information and warnings for replaceable items of signalling equipment, and ensuring the effectiveness of pre-installation checks; and revising the arrangements for recording the progress and findings of signal maintenance testing.
Following a successful trial, contractor QTS Group is to use Pathfindr’s Zonr smart safety system across all of its UK sites. Zonr creates virtual exclusion zones, using a proximity alarm to alert workers when a vehicle or other hazard comes close or if they step into a high-risk area. Site operators are provided with real-time data about incursions, enabling interventions to be made and overall processes improved.

Zonegreen has overhauled the Points Converter system installed in 2013 to enable the remote control of manually worked turnouts leading to the paint shop at South Western Railway’s Bournemouth depot. The original equipment has been replaced by a MkII system which offers improved safety and efficiency.
