A rebar threading facility has been set up at High Speed 2’s Copthall tunnel construction site after work by Skanska Costain Strabag JV was delayed by materials shortages when suppliers of prefabricated fatigue-rated rebar couplers exited the market. A team of 14 will work at the facility six days a week, 8 h a day for three years to meet the supply needs for the tunnel.

This follows a prosecution by the Office of Rail & Road after a self-employed senior linesman for Amey received electric-shock injuries including 55% burns in an incident near London Paddington on December 25 2019.
