UK: Passenger entertainment and contact technology company Whoosh is working with train operators to test a Real-Time Journey Dashboard designed to enhance the provision of bespoke live information throughout a rail journey.
Passengers scan a unique at-seat QR code to access the dashboard which provides service, station and onward journey information.
It also enables two-way communication between the train operator and passenger based on the specific service, with passengers able to request station assistance or report any issues.
The open API means that operators can integrate existing or future services such as delay repay, at-seat catering, news feeds or onboard entertainment.
‘The platform will really shake up the rail industry and set the bar for customer support technology’, said Whoosh founder & CEO Edmund Caldecott. ‘From our roots in developing at-seat entertainment, we saw the desire for a real-time information sharing, two-way communication enabling, and ultimately stress-reducing platform.’
Trials are currently underway with talks in place to roll out the system a number of UK train operators.
