UK: DB Cargo UK has taken delivery of a fleet of Ford and Iveco welfare vans fitted with toilet, catering and cleaning facilities for use by its breakdown and recovery teams.
The teams based at Didcot, Wigan and Millerhill respond to more than 100 incidents a year, ranging from minor derailments to major accidents, and can be on site for days or even weeks.
‘The new welfare vehicles provide a safe, dry and warm sanctuary for our colleagues out in the field who are often called to locations where there are little or no on-site facilities’, said the freight operator’s Head of Asset Management & Maintenance Jon Harman on February 15.
