New developments in the European Union
Produced by UITP's European Union committee, this publication sets out to give an overview of the structure of public transport in 20 countries of the enlarged European Union.
The 84-page guide is intended to help readers familiarise themselves with the main players in the public transport industry. For each country (Cyprus, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia are not featured), there is a brief overview of the institutional organisation and legal framework of public transport, followed by a description of the market structure. Some statistics are given for the largest operators, and a separate chapter gives an overview of the activities of the large multinational transport groups.
