ARGENTINA: National rail operator SOFSE has awarded Indra a €35m contract to supply ticketing equipment for the Buenos Aires commuter network.

The Spanish company will equip more than 200 stations across the eight-line network with 1 400 ticket gates and 170 entrances suitable for wheelchairs. It will also supply 200 top-up machines for SUBE contactless smart cards, 150 on-board validators, 230 platform validators, 160 station ‘transaction hubs’ and 300 journey inspection terminals.

Indra will also develop a monitoring and control back-office system that would help to improve service management. The contract includes two years of maintenance.
