NETHERLANDS: Amsterdam transport operator GVB put electric buses into service on Route 22 on April 21, with routes 15, 61 and 222 to follow.
The ambition of the local authorities forming the Amsterdam Transport Region is to have all public transport services be zero emissions by 2030, requiring the replacement of 40-45 diesel buses with electric vehicles each year.
In December 2018 GVB awarded VDL Bus & Coach a contract to supply 22 Citea SLFA-180 Electric articulated buses, nine Citea SLF-120 Electric buses and associated charging infrastructure, with an option for up to 69 more buses.
Vattenfall-Nuon has a 10-year contract to supply GVB with domestically-generated sustainable energy.
