INDIA: Experts from Sinara Transport Machines have begun supervising the assembly of tampers and ballast regulating machines at the Russian company’s ‘Make in India’ partner San Engineering & Locomotives Co’s site in Bengaluru.
STM has supplied staff from RPM Group, Kalugaputmash and the STM Centre of Innovative Development, and will oversee commissioning of the equipment once it is manufactured.
‘The Indian railway market is one of the key export directions for STM Holding’, said Deputy CEO for Sales Anton Zubikhin on October 28. ‘At the moment, our company is supplying equipment to its Indian partners worth €20m. Moreover, I would like to note that signing of these contracts was a result of tough competition with the world leaders in the railway equipment manufacturing sphere, including producers from Austria and the USA.’
He added that ‘we are not going to slow down. On the contrary, it is our plan to take part in the next tenders for the supply of equipment with a total value of more than €200m.’
- STM’s export ambitions were described in detail in the May 2021 issue of Railway Gazette International, which subscribers can read online.
