AUSTRIA: Fleet owners Logistics & Transport Europe and European Locomotive Leasing have formed a locomotive maintenance joint venture with Austrian Federal Railways subsidiary ÖBB-Technische Services.
ETL Lokservice will maintain locomotives in a 1 000 m² workshop to be built at Gramatneusiedl south of Wien, which is expected to open in late 2021.
‘After many years of planning and another year of negotiations with the competition authority in Brussels, the project is now entering the next phase’, reported LTE.
‘With the construction of the workshop at Gramatneusiedl, we are securing a strategically convenient location in the Wien area and also creating new jobs’, explained Sandra Gott-Karlbauer, Managing Director of ÖBB TS.
ELL has a fleet of 152 Siemens Vectron locomotives, while LTE has 80 electric locomotives of various types, including the Siemens Vectron, Bombardier Traxx and Softronic Transmontana.
