AUSTRALIA: Queensland Rail has awarded Vossloh’s Austrak subsidiary a framework contract for the supply of concrete sleepers worth around A$25m over three years.
Sleepers will be supplied from the Austrak plant in Rockhampton for use in modernisation and renewal works across the state’s 6 600 route-km network.
Headquartered in Brisbane, Austrak was founded in 1980 and now employs around 140 people. It has been part of the Vossloh Group since December 2018.
‘We are very pleased that we will continue our long-standing business relationship with Queensland Rail’, said Jan Furnivall, Chief Operating Officer of Vossloh AG when the contract was announced on October 25. ‘This is an impressive vote of confidence on the part of our customer and consolidates our leading market position in Australia.’
