Alstom booked €1·0bn of orders in its third quarter from October 1 to December 31 2016, with sales up 3% year-on-year to €1·7bn. As of December 31 the backlog had reached a record high of €33·8bn.
Kazakhstan Railways and Etihad Rail discussed the possible implementation of joint infrastructure projects in the UAE and third countries during the official visit to the UAE by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on January 15-16.
Altaivagon manufactured a total of 3 477 wagons in 2016, up 35% from 2015. More than half were Type 12-2143 open wagons, and around a quarter were flat wagons. Recruitment restarted after two years of falling employment, with the number of staff increasing from 2 488 in May to 3142 in January 2017. The company plans to produce up to 500 wagons per month during the first half of 2017.
